or the JDM ITR nonSRS wheel fits the 5th gen
 
Yea in the US they had airbags, probably Canada too, but in it's a pretty easy swap if you want to get rid of it.
 
I think that he was hoping to legally not have an airbag in his steering wheel. In Massachusetts, in order to pass my yearly inspection, I need to have airbags in my car as it originally came with them. But that is just a guess on my part.
