I have a 2000 civic with the D16Y7 engine installed. i am wanting to use this car as my DD and am looking for something with a little more power, and possibly increase gas mileage, seeing as i only get 30mpg's on average. What would be the most viable swap? I was thinking of swapping over a Y5 or Y8 head, what kind of gas mileage results would i turn up? and what would be needed to complete this swap? btw, its a MTX

Swaps like this have been done many times in this site my friend. Search "mini me" and you should get more information on what you are wanting to do. As far as more gas mileage, who knows. It all depends what you are going to do with it and how hard you are going to drive it I would think. The search feature is your friend. :D

Either one of those engines would be fine for your purposes. Do some searching for the specifics. Information on D-series swaps isn't hard to come by...

Basically it's a drop-in swap. You'll need to add wiring for VTEC, and you'll also need to find a motor that has the same OBD setup as your current engine. Since you've got a 2000 model Civic, you'll want an engine that came from a 99 or 2000 donor car...

Good god, with the amount of questions we get about Mini-Me's or "What can I do with my D on a budget" questions, we should have an epic D-Series POWA forum.
