when i owned it it was hit in the drivers door and then i sold it. the kid that bought it filled it with bondo

and when i got it back that just was not gonna cut it

thanks everyone and to the first poster wtf are you thinking why would it not be safe?

ive just never seen it done before :p

if everyone else says its safe, cutting away almost 1/2 the whole exterior panel of the car, then im with them :thumbsup:

thats def safe the quarter gets welded back into place just like it does from the factory...this is simply how quarter panels are changed mang
 
I would tack the new panel on over the old one :)

Imagine the ridigity. Take the front radiator mount and double up on it, all the aftermarket cross members and stuff... And you're in a tank.

Can't you see the inner frame, he only cuts away the skin and then welds on a new one. Unibodys are sweet!

It's perfectly safe. That's how they're put together at the factory too. The unibody skin on a Civic doesn't play any really major structural role in the rigidity of the car- the space frame under it is what provides the shape and structure.

And weight about as much as one too. :)

Just seam weld the bastard!
 
its all in i am gonna do some sanding this weekend and try to get some primar on it cant stand the multi colored clown car
 
looks real good. how hard was it? does it look harder then it really is or is it as simple as drilling the seam welds and taking it all back together?
