Wow. Even CDBaby has mad respect for the allmighty TPP.

TPP's review of civicious' band, Joel Stop Him:

well i ordered the cd monday evening and received it thursday. thats one plus, fast shipping!! ok i decided to take it with me to listen to on my way to work this morning (friday) and see what it sounded like. i popped that cd into my trusty cd player in my car and was totally blown away by it. listening to it on their site does it NO justice at all. it sounded WAY better IMHO. the bass was awesome, the drums were pounding and the guitars were screaming. the singer was pretty badass sounding as well. every track was in your face and kicked serious ass.

TPP says go buy this cd. it gets a  from me

not bad civ...what kinda drums/cymbals you play? I 've been in 3 seperate badns since I was 17 (now 28) and have toured the country/warped tour, etc. Nice job, but i have to agree that you do sound a lot like other bands mentioned above. Finding a unique sound is hard. I have a new album coming out in a couple of months,I have to send you one and you can see what we do on the left coast. Keep it up.

I play Premier Artist Birch, 22x20" kick, 12, 13, 16" toms, Tama Starclassic 13x2" piccolo snare, Zildjian A-custom cymbals, and Tama Iron Cobra pedal.

I'm 18, been playing since I was 5. w00t!

I just liked the sound of the kit. Had it for the last 5 years and haven't had any complaints... :shrug2:

As far as the snare, I LOVE the sound I get from it. It's really punchy and crisp...sounds great live.

The HHX's are badass...I had a 17" crash a year or so ago...

Honestly, I don't like the 10,12,14 setup. No particular reason why. :shrug2:

What hardware problems did you run into with Premiers? I've snapped a couplea lug bolts, but overall the hardware seems to be decent....

'course, then again, I dont use any of it. I've got a Gibraltar rack, with Tama and Pearl booms, and really the only Premier hardware I use are the mounts attached to the toms and the lugs/bolts....and my hi-hat stand, which, come to think of it, has a worn-out spring (so bad that it'll hardly hold up the weight of the hi-hats....)....

now that I think about it, Premier hardware does suck. Great fuckin' drums though. I've got band practice tomorrow, I'll try to take a picture of my setup for you.

On my snare, I've got a Remo Ebony ambassador, tuned as tight as I can get it. I love my snare sound. The ebony ambassadors are the only heads that I don't break, other than those Aquarian kevlar heads, which are like 8 gazillion dollars. On the toms, I've got Evans clear single-ply bottoms, with Evans coated top heads. And, of course, Aquarian Superkick II kick heads. Aquarian kick heads own j00. Period.

A more detailed cymbal setup for ya: Sabian 10" AAX splash, Zildjian Rock Ride (I think 20", I'm not sure though), Zildjian New-Beat 14" hats, 14, 16, 18" Zildjian A-custom crashes.

:D

I'm giving it a listen right now. I'm pretty ecclectic when it comes to music and tend to like small time bands so we'll see how it goes.

the interlude to the first song is a bit long.

not bad.

i like the raw sound better than an edited to shit cut from a big label. i think thats why i always like my local bands

I don't like that music you play. How can I get a cd? You guys are good? Drunk and listening...songs keep playing over and over. Is good! Posting too much now going to bed. Sorry about the fideo.

What made you go with A-custom cymbals? With the genre of music your playing I would think Z-customs or A's would be ideal. :shrug2:

I like them because they're thin. I can't stand heavy-ass thick-ass clunky crashes. They're thinner, so they're less brittle, and they sound a LOT brighter, too.

If any of you guys want cd's, you can get them at http://www.cdbaby.com/joelstophim
TPP ordered one from there, and it took them like 2 days to get it to him.

Wow, I really need to clean my drums. I usually don't polish them unless we have a show, and we haven't played a show in about a month and a half.

Here's a pic of one of the guitarist's rigs. They both play identical setups, with Fender Strats.

duct tape on the drumstick? is that because its broken or you can twirl it better that way?

That's whats left of a flimsy-ass 5A Zildjian coated drumstick. I normally play Vater or Vic Firth 5B's, but I gotta special-order those around here, and I was out of sticks so I bought 4 pairs of the Zildjians (music store hear is a Zildjian dealer). Busted all of them that night. In that pic is a VF 5A stick on the left and a Zildjian coated on the right. The grippy stuff sucks, it wears right off. Cheap shit.
