This goes out to those who have been into hip hop for a while. Those who are in there 20's have lived through some great rap in our younger days. Post your favorites rappers who have sold out of the industry. Here's a few of mine:

Wu-Tang - 36 Chambers was absoutley amazing, Forever and W were both garbage. Now Method man is making commercials for Power strip, Nigga please...

Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle was tight, now hes singing with Pharall (whatever his name is) and making porno's

Puff Daddy - Queef Daddy Diddy Dummy whatever his name is. enough said. ahahaha

Let's here some others.

you remember that rap artist Mase that used to be on Bad Boy Records? well he is now an ordained minister and has a book out.

ooo i see JDMilan likes old school. cant forget to add Run-DMC in there...they are one of my all time fave old school rap groups.

actually I THINK Vanilla Ice's new sound is pretty good. sounds way better doing heavy metal than doing rap and I hear that he sells out the venues he plays now.

edit- c'mon theres plenty more out there

who can forget busta rhymes and naughty by nature. busta was tight back when he was with leaders of the new school, but after that it want all down hill

this group isnt rap, but Metallica IMO are the biggest sellouts out there. after years of success and saying that they arent gonna make a video, then they went and made a video for One off of ...And Justice For All. if that doesnt say sellout then i dunno what. then when they release the Black Album, it just snow balled from there. and when they bitched and moaned about Napster and basically had a great service shut down, that pretty much made me not like them much anymore. i wish they would go back to their roots and make kick ass hard core music instead of this pussed out shit they have been making lately.

heres another:

Beastie Boys

they used to be hardcore some hardcore partying, gettimg drunk and tearing up shit motherfuckers...now they are political activists and go against everything that they used to be. dont get me wrong, i really like their music, but their old stuff is way better if you ask me.

:werd: In my younger days, I loved metallica, meaning back in 1994, but yeah, since napster, ugh....that's all I have to say.

Beastie Boys

lol yeah, they even had the nerve to apologize to their fans about how "rowdy" there were and such, i completely shut them out after that. That's what they were ALL about, ya know?

and yeah, i agree with all of you, Metallica IMO are probably the biggest sellouts out there, i really liked the black album and all there CD's before that, but now they are just whiny bitches if you ask me.

Sellouts or not, they are brilliant musicians. Every album they've made has been distinctly Metallica, but with a new sound each time. The songs, even their early ones, are complex in structure and progression. Ever hear of Apocalyptica? Four guys that play cello and covered some Metallica songs. You listen to the songs, especially the interlude in Master of Puppets, and go wow, this sounds like a real orchestral composition. They were a no frills, no bullshit, kick you in the balls because they felt like it and never apologise band.

I was with them when people said they sold out on ...And Justice For All. I was with them when they did the black album with Bob Cock. My faith waivered when they released Load, but I learned to appreciate the music for the complexity and unique sound. Reload got me excited that they might return to their old style of playing. Garage Inc. had me going, "hell yeah!" because they had the balls to put the original Garage Days tracks on there. Then I heard some "demos" on Kazaa of their up and coming album and started to count the days 'till it came out and was ecstatic.

Now, keep in mind, I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV, so I didn't have any idea of what it was going to sound like, other than the "demos" I had downloaded a year prior. Finally the day arrived that the album was released. The art work should have been my first indication, but I thought, NO! This is METALLICA!

I get in my car and start to listen to the first song... got about a minute into it... then hit the 2nd track... got about 45 seconds into it... then the 3rd... 4th... 5th... 6th... I went through all the songs in about 15 minutes. I was in shock. I was in awe. I just couldn't believe that it was actually Metallica. It sounded like Korn was covering a song that Powerman 5000 covered that was originally written by Rage Against The Machine. I was devastated. It didn't even sound like James. The new bass player is a retard. The songs are complete and total corporate cockrock. If you ever wondered what corporate cockrock sounds like, this is it. They should rename this album St. Cockrock. I pinched a loaf on the album, took a picture, and then emailed it to their fansite email address.

I'm still waiting for their reply.

i hate matallica, regardless of thier talent, theyre idiots.

but back on the subject, i love outkast, theyve evolved alot, and with that gottten alot more popular. i still like them and probalby always will, but yes they have 'sold out' a little.

i seriously just spit my wild cherry pepsi all over my nice new monitor here at work.

GOOD JOB

I don't think the Beastie Boys sold out. They still kick ass. But I agree with Metallica, they suck.
More rappers that sold out are MC Hammer and Xzibit.
