ok well Poor mans type R was my first choice and it still may be,but i wanted more balls and compression, well all the poor mans type r is a b16 head and a bottom gsr,all u have to do is a swap put the gsr pistons for some JDM B16 pistons, and o make more power, use the ITR cams and skunk2 cam gears and ITR Intake manifold and thats all that setup is,Power wise u should get easy 200 HP and 11:5 or 11:6 compressiom if built right and NOW,he is the other setup, same thing just different pistons, instead of the JDM B16 pistons,i wanted to use the CTR pistons and which would give me 12:1 compression, well when i found out that the 91 octane out here wouldnt be enough power to support the compression ratio i wanted to do,so i said forget, but then i figued out something most u guys probably know, well 2nd setup was gonna be a Stock JDM GSR with a piston swap for the JDM not USDM,but JDM B16 pistons, which would give me 11:9 compression but still to this day i havent figured if 91 ocatane would be enough for the compression ratio i wanted to do.there is this guy who actullay did that setup with the gsr and b16 pistons, but he uses USDM B16 pistons and got less compression 11:7 but he made 211 HP on his first dyno.so let me know what u guys think?here is the link to that guy with the setup.YouTube - Civic hatchback dyno run

LS/Vtec are reliable if built properly.

Mine's reliable and makes damn good power. Plus it has more torque than your poor man's type r. ;)

it wont make 200whp either, flywheel maybe but not to the wheels. not on ITR cams and a stock head.

the vstack test was useless. hes not gonna drive it around like that, so why bother? its like cheating just to claim you have higher whp numbers. and dyna packs read high as it is...

No offense but I love people who make bold stupid f'ing comments like that. Noob.
Why do so many people say that LS/VTEC's are not reliable??? Mine is great, makes great power (soon to be more) I beat the crap out of it and not 1 single problem at all except speeding tickets.
Go build your Poor man's type r run the CTR pistons and use 91 octane ENJOY :D

well i just heard that it did suck,i could never say it did for my self, but everyone that there not reiable, just the block or something, but do u think a poor mans type r could run CTR pistons on 91 octane,u think the octane is high enough.

Do I think it can be done sure, would I do it...... probably not. My friend is running Endyne Rollerwave pistons in his LS/VTEC and he uses 100 or 101 octane maybe a little much but better safe than sorry, oh and he is stupid and is running a VAFC too. Don't be like him and run a VAFC run something with more capabilities Crome, Hondata, etc. Sorry for blowing up at you on my first post I am just sick of Noobs saying that LS/VTEC motors are garbage.

Yes lsv suck ass specially with 450 HP on stocks leaves been driving it for two years no issues the only motor on the Frankenstein side that I would be worried about is the CRVtec with the thin walls and boost
