Actually no. Dissent is welcomed in many places.

Bush was the one who said "There ought to be limits to freedom".

Let me make that a bit bigger so you can see it.

"THERE OUGHT TO BE LIMITS TO FREEDOM"

Still think you have *all* your freedoms? Seeing that during the inaugural parade you could not look at the president, I think not.

Could you make it snappy though?

Did it occure to you that there are something you can say, buit just shouldn't, and maybe there are some people in the world that don't like them and now they don't think you should say them at all?

Actually, I would like to slap them all too, but hey, they can say and think what they want right? Don't tread into hypocrisy waters now.

While running for President, and still as Governor of Texas, George Bush responded to comments posted on the site "www.gwbush.com" that bashed him with outright lies.

Bush responded, jokingly "Well, hah, There ought to be limits to freedom!" to which everyone laughed and continued on with dinner.

People take this shit way too seriously.

Speaking of things you shouldn't say... Would this be an "abuse" of the first amendment?

Also, the whole Swift Boat Veterans fiasco was filled with blatant lies, where was that 'limits to freedom' then?

Freedom belongs to all who say the right things.

No, but wanting to bash them for what they say is one step closer.

I thought Freedom belonged to the victors? No....wait that's "spoils"

Freedom is written by the victors. No... that's "history"

I think freedom can best be defined by those that don't have it and not by us who are spoiled by it, who spit in the face of it, who scorn the sacrifice of those that fought to insure that we have it all the while espousing why "we" have the "right" answers and the other is an ignorant boob.

So, let's see if 92b16vx can find an Iraqi to give us their definition of freedom as they are just beginning to drink of it and are not yet drunk with it.

I don't get where you're coming from in this one. I wont necessarily defend either side of the table, but I can tell you that 4 months and 3 purple hearts is a bit fishy.

As far as what's on topic - I've seen worse from today's students. Shit, I saw worse from students in my days. History lessons on the high school levels has always been abyssmal, to say the least. Today, with the empowerment of the Internet, kids are just saying more grown-up sounding shit than before. They will back up their illegitimate reasoning with mis-quotes and non-sense rhetoric. Usually, they all put a liberal twist on it because MTV, CNN, and all the pop culture outlets happen to be biased, unabashedly.
