Fuel Pump Keeps Priming

i have a 91 civic hatch with an obd0 b16 converted to obd1.
just went to take a cd out tonight and heard the fuel pump prime. the odd part was that even after the relay clicked and the CEL went out the pump kept priming. i let it sit for about a minute and it kept trying to prime. i am no expert, but this doesn't sound right to me. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Maybe your main relay is partially stuck? Does the fuel pump run with the key off as well or only with the key on? Also a short to ground in the wire between the main relay and the ecu could cause that. Been there on my rex.

i had considered the short to ground issue as the wiring in this car sucks ass. i have been moving the last week and the car has just sat. went to start it this morning and it primed and shut off. started it about 10 times today and it has done the same...i guess it fixed itself oh well
