My dad's mini gets so many looks it it not even funny.
The S is not that bad. The super charger makes it feal pretty fast, and for the money, its a great deal. The base S is less then 20k, but you still get BMW engineering.
Back to the pull. I voted the Maybach. True it is ugly as hell, but the car is one of the most technical car on the planet. Also, many people do not know this but there are 2 models, one that you would be shofered in, the other is ment to be driven.

The supercharger for the S would cost you (I read this awhile ago) around another 3k, and nets you 200 hp. For the supercharger, misc. parts, cost of installation & labor, an RSX-S or WRX would be more worth it, and you'd already run daaaamn good times in the quarter mile.
In my opinion.
Edit: But...yes you'd get BMW engineering and the shit would last a fucking lifetime. I give you that.

They already have the Cooper, the Cooper S, and now the works. The Cooper works is about 25k, has a diffrent head, diffrent ECU, and a diffrent sc pully (smaller pully = more boost or is it opisite?) and results in 200 hp. This does put you in the price range of the WRX, and RSX, however, you can not compare them with the cooper. The cooper is like the miata. Not really fast but extremly agile and a joy to drive.
The Cooper is only about 16k in base form.
The S is 19.5kish stock and a fully loaded one will cost you about 23000.

There is already a turbo kit for the base cooper that results in about 200 hp for about 3k. Keep in mind, this was in one of the souly cooper catalogs and all of there prices are insane.
For the price, it really is overbuilt. The rear suspension is almost identical to the 3 series, brakes are excelent (were the same 60-0 as many other top notch cars) and the car can slamon like it is on rails

So asmallsol, what you're telling me is you'd buy the mini for the handling? Even though the WRX will get the quarter mile times, handling advantage, traction advantage, the better looking car advantage, the girl advantage, and the ever so frightening yet truthful, I-can-put-carseats-in-the-back-of-it-without-having-to-bend-through-the-front-door-and-over-the-driver-seat advantage?

anyone here who has driven a new cooper S can vouch for the responsive steering and super glued suspension, avter 3500k that car is a riot.
moves pretty well for 2700lbs
