They do work. but they're innacurate at best....the only way to be sure of your time is to go to a track, then test a gtech pro and see how close it gets. Going up or down hill affects the times.

it has to be zeroed in very carefully, and used on a flat level surface
they can be pretty damn close if you set it up properly
if you just throw it up and use it wrong (like most asshats do) it will be WAYYYYYYYYYYYY the fuck off

the only ones that are semi accurate are ones that have a g meter, and you input all your info. For ones that don't have a G meter, your wheels maybe spining at 20 mph but if your not really going anywhere, then your not acutally completing the quarter mile, even though the Gtech does.

I have one of the first ones made and it works VERY GOOD! as E said its all about setting it up right

I use to rip 14.1s off with my 280ZXT hehehehehe =) I miss them days =)

how come the one time I post something about my Z in like 4 months you happen to reply to it within 2mins!

you stalker!!!!! lol

if it makes you feel any better my honda would kick my Zs ass
I could NEVER make my Z as fast as my honda is able to be

I've seen a few streetable hondas run 9s tempest built the girls car "just like mine" and she ran 10.0 Im still waiting to see a Z break into the 10s with out tubbing it out and putting a 350 in it....

BTW...

I thought about getting a 350Z

reasons I would rather not...

I see them everywhere and the other big thing I dislike the inside is very cheap/crappy looking....

I don't think that looks cheap...I think my Escorts interior looked cheap and I think my Civics interior looks cheap...who cares how it looks, is it functional? That's what I care about.

in the last issue of sport compact car (drift dreams issue) they used both a dyno and a gtech pro on an rx-8. they didnt say how many runs with the dyno but they did 6 runs on the street with the gtech pro competition.

on the dynojet: 188hp, 135lb-ft

with the g-tech pro: 156hp, 106lb-ft

the g-tech runs were done with two people in the car, and he admits he isnt an expert at setting it up but did his best.

I read that...good article. It mainly showed how you cannot accurately measure power in the RX8 because of the sensors it has on all four wheels.

still, mazda lied their asses off when they first listed the HP figures for the rx-8.

did the same with the miatas.

d'ya think its a huge conspiracy? mazda put those wheel sensors so that people couldnt dyno the rx-8 and relaly know how much mazda lied??

i know, i know, its so the cat doesn't burn out while doing burnouts due to the really hot rotary exhaust gasses...bust still

Definitely :withstupid:

You're exactly right why they did that. but when people dyno'd the RX8 they didn't want to explain that, and they got in trouble...

I don't know why they just didn't come out with accurate numbers in the first place. It would have made it much easier on themselves.

When you get up to 25-30K+ Dollar cars it better not looking like a civic or escort
the inside of a 350Z as with any Nissan is VERY PLASTIC like

when you put the 350Z/G35 up with a Lex/BMW/Audi you will find that the nissan is.... well cheap both feel and looks "plastic like"

as far as Functional.... well why the hell would I buy a lex/bmw when my Civic has a horn/defroster/radio...... its one think to have a working interior its another thing to get what you pay for and have a SWEET ass ride sure both have functional interiors but do I want my ass sitting on some 50 dollar cloth seats or some nice ass heated leather seats with a leater wraped wheel with a nice oak dash/trim peices =) Mmmmm

if I pay 25K for a USED car it better have a damn nice interior

the 350Z can be had for 25K used.... F that shit
