There is moisture on the valve cover of my 240 and i'm pretty sure it's gas. I think i can smell gas when i accelerate hard and i really want to get this taken care of. I was thinking the plugs aren't torqued down hard enough. what else could cause this? i think it's not torqued enough because all of the plugs are doing this. and i think they changed them before they tried to sell it.

EDIT: i would put this on nissantech but not too many people go through there.

Tighten the plugs down...(obvious).

Just a little story. when my Escorts engine was rebuilt it started using like 3 quarts of oil every month. I got sick of it and got under the car...I could turn the drain plug with my fingers...tightened that up.

Then to be on the safe side I checked under the hood. I noticed that ALL FUCKING 11 of the cam cover bolts were more loose than a middle aged hooker with 10 kids.

Needles to say, my car never went back to that shit house of a shop.

loose spark plugs are not going to cause wet gas to collect on your valve cover. all that will do is cause loud knocking from a dead cylinder (the mixture would be way off for detonation to occur). i would check for a leak in your fuel lines..and check that all the bolts on your fuel filter are tightened to factory specs. the leak might also be coming from the injectors.

get a friend to step on the gas while the car is parked with the engine on, while you look under the hood to see where the gas is coming from.
