hey sol chick,
welcome to Hondaswap.
what town in Southern MN do you live in? I am from Prior Lake (mystic lake casino)
and have a cabin in Madison Lake (20min from Mankato)
I just put a JDM B16 into my 92 LX and I'm loving it, I got it from Japan Direct out of NC (www.usedengine.com) and I haven't had a prob with it and have about 300mi on it so far
If you want to check it out some time or whatever and are relatively close to Mankato I'd be happy to meet you at the mall or something, I'm not a pro at engine stuff but I've done a hell of a lot of research
(I have a girlfriend, so don't get any ideas... I'm pretty damn irresistable)
anyway, to get to your main question. Either go with the B18 or the B16 (depends on how much you want to spend) I'd say get one with a limited slip differential as well, that is what I did and it will help alot with puting your power to the ground.
don't blow all the money you have just on buying the engine because installation will run you a few bucks (especially with you have to get new axles or something right away) plus you probably want to upgrade the suspension as well (i'll be getting new shocks and springs in about a week or so)
feel free to send me an e-mail or whatever
best of luck whatever you end up doing
Sean
PS if you are into wakeboarding then you should head over to my cabin sometime and I'll pull you behind my boat
