hi guyz, i have a 99 integra ls and im thinking about putting in a b20, i got an offer of $800 total for the engine and the swap.. is that a good price??

your money, your car.....

just becareful and I hope your trust this guy. Why a b20 ???

well i just rebuild my tranny so i want sumthing that can go with my tranny so that way i dont loose that money and a b20 is not that expensive...

B20's are kinda junk
most people only want them for their displacement
their low ends aren't really meant for higher revs and they like to start knocking
i've seen these motors cooked at 80-100k
and for what gain?
4hp if its the 98+ crv motor

i would leave the stock ls. for $800 you can get started building a decent turbo kit. b20's aren't that great. i would rather have a b18 than b20.

the b18 i have on right now has 150000 and it feels like its dying what can i do to make it good again??

Wha? They're perfectly fine. The torque gain is worth it, and they can produce quite a bit of power without digging too deeply into the block. Of course, if you put in a beat engine, you put in a beat engine.

4hp and 6ft/lb for $800 bucks?

its one thing to replace a beat 150K motor, but i'd rather throw that $800 at a DIY turbo setup

just doesn't seem worth it to me, but we all have our own opinions

whole motors don't just up and die....

if its running sluggish, replace the distrubtor internals, do a leak down and compression test, and possibly swap the rings if it needs it. ~100 in parts.

ok ill do dat... if after i do that the engine runz ok what would i need to do to the engine if i want to boost it??

oh yeah boost the hell out of it!!!! If it was my motor, maybe some new pistons, rings, bearings, and a new headgasket with some valve stem seals and new gaskets all the way around. Maybe a timing belt, water pump. Rebuilt the motor. By the time you get the money for the turbo. Motor will still be full of life. But a compression check and leakdown test will tell if the bottom end is in good shape. If it is great, then the problems lies else where.

Tune it up, check it out. If all is well, then boost it. I have seen stock b18's hit 300whp on stock everything. Its all in the tune. And the condition of the motor. For peace of mind, if your going to boost it, then rebuild it anyway.
