Goodbye AllTrac?

I've been able to get to some pretty cool places with my AllTrac:

However, in getting to these places, I run into problems...

While I'm not stuck, I'm very close to it. This is a mild road compared to most of the back roads here. Yeah, I can stick to pavement, but then I won't be able to get to the really secluded spots. I hate commercialism. Ever since I've been here, I've been sorta kinda maybe thinking about a pickup to get me there. It'd be nice to be able to throw a weekend worth of camping gear and provisions in the back and just head on out into the desert, or throw my snowboard or mountain bike in the back without worrying about getting the interior dirty.

But, as I've said in the past and will continue to say, I can't handle having a pickup as my only vehicle.

Enter my upcoming project CRX. Haul ass road car fix satisfied.

Now, as some of you may know, I'm a wrenchslinger at a GM dealer, and I just found out today that I can get any GM product at $100 over cost. Up to this point, a new pickup was out of my range, but with this discount, I'd be able to pick up a brand new, loaded, crew cab short bed 4WD Duramax 2500HD pickup for around $25,000- $28,000. MSRP is around $40,000 for these things. Penis extension truck fix satisfied.

Exit the AllTrac. I don't need three cars. That'd be greedy of me. I just want something that'll go anywhere and something that'll go like a raped monkey. If I traded in or sold the AllTrac, that could take care of my downpayment and lower my monthly payments. I had thought about keeping it and using it as my project car because of the immense potential I talk about it having. However, it's a nightmare to work on. Not hard, but just... fucking... complicated. One of the key elements to having a race car that wins is simplicity. This car ain't it. Nothing is easy to get to, and even simple repairs take twice as long as they would on a Honda. Lastly, expense and parts availability. 2500 AllTracs were sold in North America. Parts cost is on par with a new BMW. While this doesn't teter me from a daily drivers perspective, it certainly makes me think twice of making it a track whore.

So there you have it, folks. What's your take?

[Opinion]
Be fucking greedy, keep the alltrac. and just buy a light duty SUV for the secluded spots.

sell that shit man if u want a truck and you have an inexpensive honda for the go toy who needs the expensive hard to work on yota

lift your alltrack and get some 30's. it will be amazing offroad. or buy a nice toyota tacoma.

keep your all trac. There rare and you seem to be attached to it. Just because you can get a new truck at cost doesnt mean you should get it. I also work at a dealersip and could get honda, bmw, mercedes, nissan etc. for a little over cost but i dont get one cause i have no need for a new car/ truck. my suggestrion is buy a early 90's toy pickup with a 22r for a couple thou and all your needs are met. i mean do you really need a fullsize diesel? how much pulling do you do? your alltrac is tight.

trade the All Trac in and get a nice newer used truck. you gonna do any suspension mods to the truck after you get it? such as a lift kit?

I can't afford to buy a used truck outright, or I would. I don't plan on hauling too much, but if I can get a hell of a deal on a truck that is my "dream" truck, and get such a deal on it, I might as well. As for suspension, nothing. Other than maybe some Banks upgrades, the truck would stay stock.

*edit- Yeah I know the AllTrac is rare, I love it, bla bla bla... I learned a long time ago to not get attached to a car. It's just a car. Sure, it's a blast to drive. Sure, it's been reliable for the past 15K miles (it has almost 180K), but I'm not married to it. I got a hell of a deal on it, and wouldn't feel bad about using it to get another hell of a deal...

well if the duramax is your dream truck go for it. im sure you can find a happy home for the all trac. too bad i just bought a car otherwise id be game.

ebay it Ji. with the jdm swap in it, its going to give you some extra cash. you can make a profit off that car hard if you want.

get what you want.

whatever you do, at least get some license plates for the state you live in now :)

I got an idea Ji, buy my yellow truck witht he cf hood.

frito

sedan= 4 doors?
gsr= acura integra 1.8l I4 aka B18C1

im calling the NO SHIT POLICE on both of those statements. but a GSR sedan isnt a car. a real GSR is different than a sedan with a GSR engine, the gsr also had better handling, nicer rims, and bigger brakes.

And I'm calling the ASSCLOWN POLICE because Acura did indeed make a GSR sedan. Four doors, B18C1, and the same suspension, wheels, and brakes as the two door GSR.

top 2 dumbest statements made today on hondaswap-

i would not get the turbo because it is oil cooled and with the oil cool i creates too much engine lag and spools slower

:bash:
