GSR alternator w/ 96 DX wiring harness

I'm swapping a 98 GSR into my 96 DX coupe. I've run into a problem with the wiring harness. The GSR alternator requires a 3-pin clip and my DX wiring harness has a 4-pin clip. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Which wires would I have to splice if I got a GSR alternator clip?

have you simply tried to plug your civic's alternator plug into the GSR alternator?
