hey, about gsr ecu's do they change alot from years.? like 94-98? and 99-2001 ? the reason is because i going to drop a b18c1 into my 99 si soch civic coupe, and i wanted a 1999 new motor. Dude told me the wirng is different on 99 gsr b18c1 vs any older motor cause something to do the the computer. is this true? is their a difference between jdm vs usdm in the question? which b18c motor would be best for my project???

it is.

civics changed in 99 to OBD2b
however, tegs didn't do so until 2000.

usdm/jdm doesn't matter

getting a 2000 gsr will be easier
 
ok, that because earilier motors are odb1?
what kind of extra wiring is needed to swap a 99 or sooner in my civic?
 
there are two versions of obd2

>92 obd0
92-95 = obd1

96-98 civics, 96-99 tegs obd2a
99+ civics, 00+ tegs obd2b

using a 2b motor in your 2a car require some more wiring depending on what you have for wire harnesses and ecus

Let me elaborate a little on this.

As for the GSR it goes as follows:

92-93 is OBD1, but it is a P61 which is VERY similar to the P30 from the delSol of 94-95

94-95 is also OBD1, and is nothing like the previous years because the new GSR had a dual runner manifold (P72)

96-99 is OBD2

00-01 is OBD2b and has the immobilizer in the ECU.

so do 99 b18 c 1 have the immobilizers in the ECU's?

No, the 96-99 does not have it, BUT the 96-99 will NOT plug in a 99-00 (OBD2b) Civic harness.

You need the 00-01 (OBD2b) GSR ecu.
