I do have to add, if I could find a 2500lb full chassis car, (meaning 2 doors and a roof and not open wheeled) that put down 300WHP for less then $60K I'd so own it.

However, for the money, I can't think of a better (newer) car then my 350Z the next true sports car in line on my list would be a 96 911TT however, used those run for 60K

So for now, the Z takes my pick for the best sports car to money ratio that can be bought brand new. To say that its a failure is a pretty bold and stupid statement based on nothing more then personal opinion. The 350Z is what saved Nissan and turned them into a going out of business company into what it is today. Failure? I think not.

Last time I checked it was still the best dollar for performance car out there.
Thats because every manufacturer has been producing shit cars that cant hold a coin to the cars they used to build.

Lets not forget it was one of the best selling sports cars of 2000s
Just because everybody buys something does not make that item a good product.

Stock 350zs can run mid 13s to low 14s. All in the driver, there's many videos out there showing that.
Wasnt it quoted as running 13.7 by Car / Driver?

Just because you can race an asshat that can't drive a Z in beat them doesn't mean the Z sucks.
Ok how many Z's run 13.4 and trap at over 105 mph? You cant argue with track times.

I have actual track times which are lower than your inflated statements about the z's actual performance. It doesnt matter how good of a driver is in the Z . . its slow as shit.

Its been said many times from different mags and car reviewers that its the best bang for the buck, either way, thats not my point, you said it was a failure, I was making a point that it was far from that.

There's a few from the forum that ran 13.3 stock but most range from mid 13s to low 14s and no its not inflated, its a 5 year old car with many people tracking them. Most Zs will run in the high 13 range. 13.8-13.9 but there still is a pretty wide range, there's videos on the Z forums showing some pretty damn good times with the stock setup. Either way drag racing is the last thing on my list, my idea of a good car is something that is well rounded.

Are you saying your stock S14 ran 13s stock?

As far as performance, IMO that doesn't mean straight line power, the Z rocks, slight mods will easily get you over 1G in the corners. slight mods being, new springs, and changing the wheels/tires.

Does the S2000 easily out do the Z car and driver has a write up on both and the Z pulled .93G in stock from, the S2000 also pulled a .93G

Again the Z is slow as shit because?

Also you once again talked about

Thats because every manufacturer has been producing shit cars that cant hold a coin to the cars they used to build.
Please name a single car built in the past that had over 250WHP (lower then the 300WHP you wanted) and can turn .90G or better.

Name ONE, I forgot about all the great cars car manufacturers use to make since I can't think of a SINGLE one that isn't listed as a super car.

Stock motor, some bpu's, street tires, stock wheels. The car did have a redtop SR in it, but those are such commonplace its expected that a 240 will have one.

Ill call bullshit untill i see a vid of a 350 being driven directly from a dealership to the track, and running better than 13.3 (yeah right).

All the ones i ever saw race were running mid 14's. None broke into the 13's.

Sport Compact Car couldnt even get their's to break past 14.1

Nismo 350Z Road Test Review - Sport Compact Car Magazine

I call bs, there is no way a z will run better than a high 13 in completely stock trim at a reasonable elevation, with stock tires and pump gas.

a Z is a good power to dollar ratio ? could have fooled me. it's an expensive, fat, piggy two door. Anyone that's ever made fun of a 4th gen Supra has no business in one of these.

Is this a rebuttal of my point or Jeffie's? If anything I have been arguing that this car is NOT a good power/dollar ratio.

Look at the article i posted. SCC (reputable magazine) couldnt even get a modded 350z into the 13's.

Ok, for 25K (cost of a base) what else makes 300hp and has rwd?
only other cars in the power/dollar range would be the STI and EVO and they're both a bit more then base, however if you option it out they're all around the same price.

So what else out there is a better dollar/car ratio? Do keep in mind I'm talking about BRAND NEW CARS.

You are talking warranties and dealerships... 2 worlds I do not live in.

That's cool, soon as I get some extra room I'm picking up a 240Z and doing it. =)

240Z-280Z swapping an L28T with turbo mods and working it over from the tires up.

Clearly something like that is a better value/power ratio, however thats apples and oranges.

Only cars I can think of that fall into the Z category are priced higher so I stick with my power to value ratio. the Z imo is still the best bang for the buck when it comes to new sports cars.

S2000 is also a great car to add to the list next to the EVO and STI but even the S2000 MSRP at 34K =(

Just looking at MSRPs the 350Z has went up, it use to be 25K now its 28K for base. so its pushing it closer to STI and EVO range. making it not as good of a value, however, it's still the best I can think of.

Post up some other cars that are well rounded and cheap.

I missed this, so you're saying since its common for a Civic DX to have a B series swap, we should look at it as a factory thing? bottom line, the 240SX in the US wouldn't touch 13 from the factory.

For the record I really like 240SXs if done right they're sweet and have a lot of options for modding. but stock for stock it wasn't all that great.

Maybe the track or temps? check out car and driver.

2007 Nissan 350Z - Feature

Third Place: The Quickest Cars of 2007

Nissan helped write the book on how to bring a sports car to the mass market with the original 240Z and stayed true to the formula with the 350Z: front-engine; rear-wheel drive; wheel-spinning, melodious power; a lithesome exterior; and an affordable sticker. It worked the first time and has helped Nissan sell the bejeezus out of the Z nameplate again. We applaud Nissan for selling a base model under $30K, as the car can cost closer to $40K clad with myriad options. You lose nothing that makes the Z a satisfying package in the base model, although the gold-colored, four-piston calipers on the Brembo brakes and forged wheels included on the Track model are admittedly tasty pieces.
We are not alone is singing the praises of the VQ35 all-aluminum V-6 engine, powering the 350Z and most other Nissan and Infiniti products. Ward's AutoWorld has named it one of the world's best engines every year the 3.5 has been in production. It also boasts the most distinctive exhaust note among mass-market vehicles in recent years. For 2007, the Z's 3.5—shared with the Infiniti G35—is 80-percent new, boasting six more horsepower, better midrange torque, and a 500-rpm higher redline (now 7500). Responsive, and broad, the V-6's eager-to-please power band encourages frequent use of all 306 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. We are eager to abuse and came away with 5.2 seconds to 60 mph a 13.7-second quarter-mile time.
The first order of driving business is to disengage the traction control, allowing full experience of the viscous limited-slip differential; it's no surprise that the 350Z is a favorite of drifting competitors. The electronic throttle won't permit concurrent application of throttle and brake, so should you want to heat the hides a little before your run up the on-ramp, we've been told that if one was to stupidly, illegally, and never advisably disconnect the brake-light switch from the back of the brake pedal, you can play John Force until the fire department arrives.
Should you want to accelerate much, much faster, the 350Z provides grassroots enthusiasts a platform that is eminently tweakable, and the aftermarket has responded with countless powertrain and suspension options.
