Guages

Hey sorry if this is in the wrong forum but i wasnt sure

anyway to the question. what is the difference between electronic and mechanical guages other than the price? Im assuming accuracy but how far off could it really be for double the price? Also what is a good company for gauges.

well, its pretty much what they are-

lets take oil pressure.

mechanical actually sends oil up a line to the gauge.
elestronic sends oil up to a unit under the hood which in turn sends a signal to the gauge

Mechanical are generally more accurate, and fail less often, but you have fluids running into your passenger compartment. Big nono for me.

I've got all Electronic gauges. Never had a problem.
