h22 help on egr valve and cooling temp sensor

i just swaped a jdm h22 in to my 92 eg hatch but my egr valve and cooling temp sensor arent connected but the car runs fine and vtec cracks hard on this one but my mechanic says it needs to b connected any help on this one
