H22 IM sensors

Hey i just went to the junkyard and picked up all the egr crap. I noticed in the book its talking about intake control valves and what not. basically looks like a IAB setup but connects from IM to intake hose. just wondering wtf this does, maybe for smog? will i throw a code without it?

From staring at the book for a while it looks like the h22 has a mechanism that has a valve in the stock air box so it can get more air when iabs open i guess. The stock airbox looks like it has 2 pipes going into one so that the engine can control amount of air.

how i would hook that up to a CAI is beyond me and i dont need it anyways.
