h22a1 and h22a4

    i'm just wondering what the differnce is between the h22a1 and h22a4 it would be going into a 90 accord any advice would be helpful....thanks in advance

    I believe ones open deck and the other closed not sure witch though.

    That and the h22a4 has some internally differant parts, its built to obd2 spec(oil pump) for example. Type SH has atts...

    H22A1 is OBD1, closed deck.
    H22A4 is OBD2, open deck.

    the h22a1 is usdm obd1 motor with closed deck...

    the h22a4 is the second generation of the usdm motor and it has an open deck...

    maybe slight alterations with the internals resulting in perhaps a 5 hp increase in the a4 over the a1...

    what do you mean when you say open deck and closed deck?

    i think that means its time for you to get your learn on about honda motors...

    has to do with "floating" sleeves
