Hard to start Engine

I am having problems with starting my car.

I have a B16a OBD-1 in a 91 civic.
Sometimes it doesn't want to start, clicks.

I changed the starter to a 2000 GSR starter and still have the same problem.
(The GSR starter did not bolt right up, like someone said it would, had to change mount brackets around and use less screws.)
Connections are good.

If I slam the clutch down hard and turn the starter at the same time, sometimes it will start.

After I get it started once, it starts just fine, one crank, no slaming the clutch.

Does anyony know whats wrong?

Perhaps the battery doesn't have the balls to do it????
Check to make sure the battery connectors are tight.

Im having a similar problem in my integra. My mechanic suggested examing the neutral safety switch/relay.

Ill try check that, cause that sounds like it could be.
cause i never had truble with starting till recent, then after changing the starter it still had same problem, so it must be it.

Thanks all

my friend did a swap on an auto accord and converted it over to manual...

his car was doing just about the same thing, we finally figured out that it was the clutch safety switch...

that would be my guess too. The starter and wiring don't care how hard you stomp your clutch. Only that switch and the associated wiring would be effected by the foot pounding.
