head swap trouble

    my friend just got an 88 integra for cheap and the guy told him that the problem was just the head was bad, well he swapped the head off from his friend's 87 integra, both d16a1 motors, he says he has the timing right, but engine runs like crap, you think it could have anything to do with sensors? any answers to this problem would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.

    more info.

    ex. my friend swapped heads but didnt replace the head gasket and now the car is teh suck.

    well he did change the head gasket too. and hooked everything back up, and now engine runs like crap.

    probably camshaft timing is off - any codes?

    check all the vacuum lines to.

    The 86-86 d16a1 is vacuum advanced timing, the 88-89 is electrinic advanced Timing. The dizzy mounting points and sensor are different. Check out:
