I was wondering if anybody knew of any head units to get. I have a Sony Xplode right now, but it is all fucked up. It won't play CD's that are too thin, and it crashes all the time. Actually, it only crashes when it is flipped out, it is chamelean.(SP?) By crashing, the screen frezee's up and whatever was on the screen stays, ex.

05 (Track) 2:15 (Minutes of track) if I change the volume it will stay, or the settings, or volume. I want to get the new Xplod head unit, but after this one, I am a little worried skeptical about the reliability. Any head units that you guys think are better?

I only use JVC. I've had really good results with them and have never had any problems whatsoever with their products.

I've used sony decks in the past had bad luck with all of them. For the money id get an Alpine unit if it was me.

:withstupid:

Do they make any flip down/out units, both companies. I really want a flip out chamelean, because I am going to put carbon fiber around my dash, so it will look like it is part of the dash. I want to keep it from getting stolen in every way possible as well.

:werd:
I had to get a pioneer deck after my dad got his. Completely changed the way his car sounded. My deck is my favorite part of my system.

The chamelean decks can easily b viewed from outside of the car. I've walked past cars and just happen to see them. Just play it safe and get a detachable faceplate. No ones going to believe you dont have a deck if your car is remotely decent. You're deck is useless w/ out the face so just keep that with you.

my bad w/ the double post.

I've never had a problem with my Pioneer DEH 2100 in my Escort. It's always worked with no problems.

pioneer are the best in my opinion. Reasonable priced units pioneer>JVC>Sony>Aiwa

:concur:

I've been buyin Pioneer head units since oh 91 and for the price you can't beat em, the quality imho is far superior to sony.

I'd buy an alpine I've just never liked there style, but their quality, craftsmanship is amazing.

I'm begining to like panasonic these days as well, they've been steppin up to the plate with some great product s recently.

It's not hard to use- trust me. Alpine's interface is very natural feeling to me. I've had my share of Sonys, JVCs, Pioneers and Kenwoods, and right now all my cars have Alpine heads in them.

Alpines are pretty good, they have good sound quality. The only thing I don't like about them is that their buttons tend to stick after a while. I like Kenwood's reliability. I have been using them for over 6 years. Jvc's have pretty good sound, but I do not like their quality in a lot of their electronics. Sony sucks, they always break and have lousy sound. I will never buy a Pioneer head unit again. My stock Honda radio sounded better than it (well not really but pretty close). It was whored through 3 of my cars with different speaker setups and it never sounded good. When I put a kenwood in there it was night and day difference.

I was thinking about that one Calesta, but it is too big for my taste, I am leaning towards Alpine, I know they make great quality sound and realibility.

i like JVC, never had a problem with em. their animated display series (LH?) is pretty cool, that's what I have right now. it's not expensive either.

dont forget panasonic. I have a CQ-DF402U and I got it for 115 at etronics.com. It has 3 amp outputs, a cd changer input, sub out (nice to have) and a remote. It has some really nice features too.

alpine gets my vote. i love my 7894. almost time to upgrade to the 04 series though.

My vote would go toward Alpine also. They make excellent decks and have great sound. Also another good line is Clarion ProAudio. I've ran mine for 2 years and was the best deck I ever bought.
