i have a 97 civic hx. i think its a d16 non vtec can i swap a d series vtec head on it...
 
If it's an HX, then it should have VTEC-E, which is more about fuel economy than performance.

Also, moving this to the correct forum...
 
I thought the HX was a D16y5 in 96-00.... Could be wrong but I remeber this motor being able to swap over a D16y8 Head and ECU and the motor runs fine. I'd recomend a motor chart with bore, stoke ect but yep

yes as stated above but remember if you dont have vtec now and switch your ecu to a vtec you will also have to get the right harness. d16y8 harness will work or there are threads showing what to pin if you use your old harness.
