I drive 80+ miles every day to work and back.

Most of the time there's shit traffic.

Yes it sucks to have the manual in that situation. No I wouldn't trade it for an auto. That fun factor when not in traffic makes it worth it to me.

I prefer a manual in traffic. Having to cover the brake all the time in an auto sucks worse than having to work the clutch a bit.

The article quoted is not of automatics, but of flappy pedal manuals... and there's a huge difference. As above, I said i'd consider it. A true auto, I have no interest in. I hate everything about the way they drive, feel, and downshift 8 seconds after giving it more gas.

Just because they are going away because that's what the masses buy doesn't mean it's right.

The masses also elected Obama, bought 20 million mmmmm Bop records, and watch TMZ.

here is the face of every subaru owner.

Is he changing his spark plugs?

The E350 has 302 ponies and 273ft/tq .... not to shabby...if he eventually wants more power he can always add a Kleeman supercharger
E350!? LOL the car weighs 4200 lbs dude. And the cost of the Kleeman on top of a E350, would have been more economical to get an E550.

I'm just saying that it's going to be harder and harder to find a true manual tranny car that is new or has low miles and low years. But if your ok with paddle shifters then you probably won't have to hard of a time finding something.

I drove the SMG m3, and my buddy had an evo X mr with them. It was ok. I still missed something in control, but the shifts where there when I wanted them, not some machine who can't see what's coming up. Slushboxes can all die in massive metal foundry fires for all I care :)

The SMG is a terrible gearbox. The DCT in the Evo X is MUCH nicer. The DCT in the E9x M3's are also a dream.

The 7 speed slushbox in the AMG's is not terrible, much better than what you would find in non-AMG benz's. Decent compromise, wish it was a real DCT. Even the MCT misses the mark and feels much the same.

yeah, I didn't care for the smgII... which is why I got the 6spd :)
the X mr was pretty good. wasn't great in traffic though-- reminds me of May in the Lambo in Italy just bucking around. lol Probably user error though considering I've never driven it before.

Still, I'll take a MANual anyday of the week, even if it's slower.

i'd love a new m3, but the 12mpg rating blows and they are still WAY above what I'm willing to pay. And the maintenance costs....
and that's before the liberal property tax socialists of my city makes it cost me $1000 a year just to keep it in my driveway... :/

Don't worry slush boxes are all being replaced with CVTs.

which are even worse than the automatics.

would be a great idea, if somebody could make one that properly works.
we change them like oil filters at nissan/infiniti.

Too bad that's where its headed, every new car we've looked at had a CCT, anything to add 1-3 mpg over a manual/auto transmission.

CCT, now you're fucking crossing the line!

I don't think the new civic has a CVT auto. I asked about it, just so I could see what one was like and the dealer just said nope. I haven't looked into it, but I do like the shifting of the eco-off transmission profile.

Camry, Accord, Legacy, Outback... all have CVTs

Camry has no manual option, but the other cars come in manual if you get the base model with the smallest engine.

Thats what really sucks you have to get the smallest engine and the base model to get a man pedal.

I still missed something in control, b:)

Control is an illusion, you infantile egomaniac. Nobody knows what's gonna happen next: not on a freeway, not in an airplane, not inside our own bodies and certainly not on a racetrack with 40 other infantile egomaniacs.----Name that Movie

The accord sport(practically base but has manual) is actually pretty quick if I recall. Like low 15 second 1/4. Very good looking car to me as well.

Doubt it would run 15s the sport model just adds side skirts, front/rear lip trunk spoiler and different wheels.

You want the 30+ mpg v6 with 300hp?

No manual.

And they wonder why no one wants to mess with Honda's any more.

Yet, the wrx comes standard in manual and look at that aftermarket? it's the hot car now a days because the mfg'er caters to its clientele.

Still, overpriced IMO. I know ian showed a 26k sticker, but I speced it to almost 40k with comparable features to my genesis that I would miss... like homelink mirror, sub/better radio, keyless fob, etc
