I am building my ls/vtec, and have to decide what pistons to go with.

My question is, what is the highest c.r. you can run safely on pump gas (92 octane of course).

Im leaning towards a CTR piston (yes I know, Ill have to modify the ls rod for it to fit), but using the c.r calculator at c-speedracing.com, it gives me a c.r of 12.38xxx (thats using a b18a/b block, b16a head, b16b piston, oem headgasket, and orig deck height)

Anyone know what the limits for c.r. on pump gas are??

Thanks

Alfred

i believe the limit on 93 octane pump would be in the upper 12s.. Cal had a few cars on 12.x:1 CR.

After 13s you'd need race gas, which is like 3-4 bucks a gallon depending on where you live.
