Lmao. My uncle is an avid hunter and when he saw my hiking bag with a bell tied to it his exact words were, "Whats that for? To let the bears know that a warm meal is comin?"

All its meant to do is alert the bears to your presence. Most bears will only become hostile if they are startled. Which can happen if you are simply hiking and not making much noise.
