finished installing cams on my b16 im swapping in my 91 dx hatch. well as i turn the crank i hear hissing from the spark plug holes. is that normal? the plugs are tight so it shouldnt leak.. the intake mani is on but the header isnt...could that be it?

I assume you are turning it with a wrench while you work on it??

then yes, the hissing is OK your engine is moving air, just like it is supposed to.

you should fell the resistance change from the com the compression also.
