It's not hard to replace the tie rods. Consult a service manual and do it yourself. I would check your wheel bearings too.
 
i've only tightened tie rods, never had to replace. i've had crxs for 4 years and am pretty technically inclined. wheel bearings are brand new both in the front. bought the car with bad wheel bearings for 1500 cash the morning after the listing popped up on ebay. guy wanted 1799 with stereo i snatched this car right away though. took the knuckles off and a machine shop pressed my 100 dollar bearings in for 75 with tax. 175 for bearings is not too bad at all though considering you need four press operations per knuckle to install them.

think i found out my brake noise problem....upon inspection i absolutely KILLED one of the two small bolts that holds the rotor to the hub assembly. what other brake damage should i be looking for?
