hot tank?

i have a 88 crx dx and the rear is gutted. right where the fuel pump is that spot gets real hot . it burns my hand if i touch it and if the passenger seat is all the way back it starts to thin the material on the back of the seat and will start to melt it . my question is this a problem or am i just noticing it because the storage box is out of the car?

doesnt quite sound right to me .... but someone else will have to verify this one..... never heard of it happening before

there is no way that is normal. i have an 89 crx dx and there are no hotpsots back there on mine. i would suspect that heat is somehow coming from your exhaust. maybe there is a heatshield missing that goes between the car and the cat.

the heat shield wouldn't really effect it IMHO, and the term hot tank is referred to a process why which dipping a bottomend into a almost chemical tank that cleans your bottom end out of impureities.
