I want to and have the money to build an ls vtec, but I don't have a lot of time to leave my car in the shop. 2 days at a time max. Its my daily driver. Can it be done

It can be done, but if you run into problems or need to order a part, you're screwed.

I plan to build the head out side the car and install it in one day when I get he chance, but the bottom end is my issue since that's the one I intend to use

If you want iit done in two days you better buy a built ls vtec and drop it in. Don't expect a shop to drop everything they are doing to get your car going in two days

If he plans ahead with a shop as it seems he will have time to since he's building the head seperate, Im sure a shop could schedule it in.

Even if he gets a shop that says they will schedule a slot just for his car, if something fucks up, and something always fucks up, than he's screwed. A busted sensor, or bolt can be a real time killer.

This. Best idea is to get a block, build it up completely ready to go, then pull your engine, swap on the head, reinstall. Of course you're still left with the "if something breaks" problem. Ideally you'd just build the engine complete, and then swap it in, and sell your old one.

Yea, but considering the headaches that your are setting yourself up for with the time constraints, there really isn't enough reason to go with a frank 1.8 vtec, versus a OEM 1.8 vtec.

Anyone else remember the old saying don't mod your daily driver.

Go with a gsr engine. The fun is not having to walk, ride your bike, bum a ride, or pay a taxi to go to work.

agreed... for the price it would cost to build the ls/v correctly you could have a GSR swap thats 200% more reliable

im with everyone else, get a GSR and swap it in. less work and headache than an LS-VTEC, and if you ever do get a DD later on down the road, you have plenty of potential there.

Yeah but nothing wrong with modifying your dd if you have another way to get around. Small mods like suspension, etc are excluded.

For a while I didn't- left the car in Dallas while living in Oklahoma for months at a time. Bummed rides to work, bummed rides back to Dallas. Fun times.

Hey man, I'm in the same boat yoou are. Ima be building my head piece by piece and buy everything for the block. And when the time comes, out goes the block.

    Just get everything ready first!
