How do you clear an error code in the ECU?

If you have an error code, how do you clear it?

Disconnect the battery or pull the fuse for the ECU, this is all assuming you dont have a code reader

fix the code then unplug the ecu or what was sugested above

or just pull the HAZARD fuse for about 10 seconds... you don't have to disconnect the battery or anything.
