how can you tell these trannies apart? i know one starts with a 1 and one a 5. problem is i dont remeber which one is which. i saw it on here like 3 weeks ago. someone please help

by the way with the 1 and 5 i was talking about the serial numbers. Also could you place a 92-93 gsr final drive gear into a 91 ls tranny? anyone tried it?

well the 1 and 5 serial numbers that are stamped on the block refer to the motor. the 1 series is the xsi and the 5 series is the civic sir.

thats what i needed to know. thanx man. cuz the tranny i was lookin at. said S1 and the serial was 1044219. so thanx again

yeah usually check the stamps, if you go online you can correspond the right gearing with what ever stamp you have. good luck.
