go into "My Controls" (upper right of your screen), then go into the Avatar Settings panel. there will be a link to it on the left. then you can link a pic from somewhere on the net or upload a pic from your computer.

I had hte same quesiton as he did, and was wondering why I can't add a JPEG. What kind of file does it need to be?

it can be jpg, gif, or png
but it cannot be bigger than 60x60 pixels or 6KB if you upload it
