How to I make a link not the link itself?

I wanna put something in my sig, but I don't want to put the actual thread title as the link in the signature, I want it to say something that's shorter.

they way i do it is... after i post the link i go to edit and its still in link form, but i can edit the text and save the post.. kinda like i did w/ yours

Or you can just do this:

[ URL=' http ://enter hyperlink here' ] whatever you want it to appear as here [ /url ]
remove the spaces for it to work. I just put it in there to bork up the code and keep it from turning into a link
