how to test a distributor

    can anyone help me and tell me how to test my obd1 gsr distributor to make sure everything is fine before i change it out for a new one? please? thanks, Sal

    take ur spark plugs out, put them in the plug/wire thats runs to the dizzy, ground the spark plug and see it its sparks when u try to crank it.

    one at a time..thats for checking spark. ne other methods or areas to test the dizzy in i dunno

    i already did that. working fine with spark going to all 4 cylinders. i just wanted to check the actual dizzy to make sur eits not fried or anything. thanks, Sal

    Ummm....if its sparking the dizzy can't be broken, thats whats generating the sparks! (Well the coil is generation the sparks, the Dizzy is timing them correctly.)
