I think that's the 'medium' version of the pic... I've got the 61mb jpg, which is the 'medium-large' version. Yep, that's Hubbles deepest image yet, an 11 day exposure if I remember correctly. It's the furthest in distance and time any human has ever looked... Some of the smallest red dots are the first galaxies ever, from when the Universe was only 800 million years old.
Let's blow it some more. That image is from an area of sky about the size of a BB held at arms length. Imagine everything in that picture, all across the sky.
fucking-A that is sweet... did u know that the guy who made the hubble scope is from Marshfield mo... a town that is 20 miles east of where i live thats wierd..
That picture looks tight. I like looking at the swearly (sp?) things. It reminds me of space things......because thats what it is.
Actually I think it's quite a bit smaller than that. The image is from a 3 arc-minute square of sky. So think of how far a star moves in the sky in 3 minutes, and make a square in the sky that big...
that picture is almost too amazing to believe! awesome thanks for sharing mang this'll really blow your minds... scientists say there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand in Hawaii?... no.. try the world. thats fucking impossible to fathom!
A few thousand miles behind and to the right of the telescope. EDIT: The images all aren't working at the hubblesite at the moment, but the link is correct... It'll show when the site is back up.
ever since i was little i have been amazed at the heavens... and i still am... had i actually gone to school while i was in high school, maybe i would be an astronaut. it never ceases to amaze me just how small we are compared to everything else, and how mysterious it is. kinda funny how, most people are so ignorant... thinking we're the only species of our kind, or... that we're superior.... however, we're like the tiniest of bacteria to everything else... what an ego buster there. hehehe beautiful picture... welcome to my desktop!
