August 2007 I wrecked the first Windstar. Driving into the sun I didn't see the pickup stopped to let the bus out. Destroyed the front end.

Summer 2008 after finally getting another van in November I was on my way down to Tennessee when that transmission blew out, lost my overdrive. Had to drive it 80 miles in 2nd gear at 55 mph on the backroads sucking down a half tank of gas.

Two weeks ago I got back from out of town in the other Windstar that I took over from our Nascar driving coworker that we laid off, the transmission started slipping. Pulled into the gas station to find trans fluid was gushing out. My dad just came up to me today and said there's a giant hole in the bottom of the trans, so it's fucked and he doesn't want to fix it.

So now I have to drive that other van, which is a 99 Sevana piece of shit with a broken side door.

RIP Battlewagon, 1999-2011 I will miss being able to fit into parking spaces and lots. :(

Maybe after repeated half tank fill ups of 50+ bucks and my constantly having to go out of town, he'll get rid of it and get something smaller.

Get an astro van, cheap and last a long time. How much weight do you carry?
My 06 e150 got pretty good mileage for being overloaded. My 09 e150 was kind of badass for a van.

You could probably sell the Savana and get another windstar for what you sell your Savana for.

Depending on how much you carry around do you need a van?

Not too much. A bunch of misc items like drills, 66 blocks, toolpouch, supplies box, between 2-5 boxes of cat 5, a 6' ladder, etc.

use a company gas card to get a % back on every gas purchase
and then you just need to pay it once a month

do you pay for fuel? or is it reimbursed?

I don't pay for fuel, the company does. We have a BP (Lassus) fuel club card which gives us 8 cents off the posted price with each purchase. But it hurts the bottom line of our small family company. I'd rather like the company to keep money, instead of wasting it all on gas.

Yeah, but it's either pony up for gas or drop some dough on another vehicle, right? It sucks for the company either way...

I don't want to give my dad a heart attack when he see's that 100 dollar gas tab for one week. The problem is this week he will see that gas tab because I've been having to go out of town, the week the Windstar blew the transmission I ended up going out of town at least a 1 hr drive each way to different jobs on four different days. When you only charge 85 an hour, it starts to hurt the profits.
