As the title says, I need someone with a stock B16A SiRII motor/trans to check it out and let me know what speed the car is going at certain rpms in certain gears. I want to know this because it feels like my car is VERY fast, but I have no idea how fast it actually is going at any given gear/rpm.

What is the vehicle speed for:

Maximum speed in 1st gear
Max speed in 2nd gear
3rd gear 4,000 rpm
3rd gear 7,000 rpm
4th gear 2k rpm
4th gear 3k rpm
4th gear 5k rpm
4th gear 7k rpm
5th gear 2k rpm
5th gear 3k rpm
5th gear 5k rpm
5th gear 7k rpm

I know this is goofy, but I really would appreciate it if one of you guys could do a quick run and let me know these speeds. Someday I'll shell out the $180 for the new VSS, just not right now. Thanks.

Oh, and 2 quick questions: will the Vehicle Speed Sensor from a 99 Si work on the B16A SiRII or no?

And does anyone know someone who has one that works for sale for cheap?
 
Disregard this topic. My speedo magically started working today after I washed the engine compartment at the car wash. Thanks again E.
 
Since it's the same transmission as I have... I can help out here a bit.


Maximum speed in 1st gear - 40
Max speed in 2nd gear - 59-60
3rd gear 4,000 rpm - I have no idea
3rd gear 7,000 rpm - 73-77
4th gear 2k rpm - 30-35
4th gear 3k rpm - 43-44
4th gear 5k rpm - 90-93
4th gear 7k rpm - 100-105
5th gear 2k rpm - I dunno, I'm never down that low... I'd say around 40 mph
5th gear 3k rpm - 60-63
5th gear 5k rpm - 90ish (4th redlines at 110)
5th gear 6k rpm - 110 (I have a picture of this)
5th gear 7k rpm - guessing around 120
