let me start by saying i fucking hate itunes.

    a lot.

    but, heres my issue.
in regular wma/mp3 format, i have right at 4gb of music on my computer. (small, i know.)
but, in itunes, it doubles, songs that are 57mb become 110mb.
all of them, my 4gigs of music is now 8 gigs,
an 8gig touch, wont hold 8gb worth of music.

what the fuck do i do to fix this?
i had itunes a bout a year ago, but deleted it, i never used it and i just bought a new touch, so, i downloaded itunes again. now i remember why i ditched it in the first place.

but i have nero on my computer as one of my media players, when you go into my music, open the itunes folder, into the songs, they are all nero format or whatever you call it, has the nero symbol next to it.

not sure what to do here.

itunes converts your music to m4a.

un-install itunes and use this plugin for winamp
    Control your Ipod with Winamp

yeah, the next player i buy is def going to be a zune, fuck this itunes shit.

the format that the files are in is m4p, which seems to be the protected apples version.
i guess i need them to be in aac, which apparently is a bitch to find a converter that you dont have to pay for.
i have switch converter on my comp right now, but you have to buy the full version to convert to aac.
just downloaded dbpoweramp but to convert to aac it keeps saying that i need another download which it links me to, i download it and nothing happens.

any suggestions of one you may have used?

You should have just set up itunes to not convert and copy when you add stuff to your library. My shit is 100% mp3.

    didnt know you could.
hell, if i cant find a converter, i'll probably just delete everything and start over.
which i really dont want to do, because it takes FOR FUCKING EVER for itunes to load all of the music.

such a piece of shit program.

it's not bad if you don't have it set to convert and index, if you're just indexing into the library it's pretty fast actually.

i thought that you could convert within itunes. go to advanced>importing>import using (select the format you would like to convert to). then you should be able to right click on any file and convert to mp3 within itunes.

Eh, if I can't find a easy program to convert them to .aac then I'll just delete the library and import them in mp3.
I thought that they had to be in whatever format was required by iTunes in order for the iPod to play them.

You have to go to General in the settings and click Import Settings, you can change it there.

Nah why would they do that? They have all those suckers that buy all those songs for 99 cents. Selling digital copies of songs is free money. As long as the mass majority is happy with the iTunes product that's all they care about.
