I knew I recognized the name Murfeesboro in your rant. I didn't know you were from TN... even though its right there in front of me.
Anyway, yeah I hit 128 in my car the day I bought it, stupid... yeah, but never did it/will never do it again.
One of the project goals for my Civic was 130 mph sustained.
And I believe that Blanco's car can, being he has the motor that I wanted to setup. His trans is different, so I'm not sure if it'll sustain it all day long.
But yeah, I share this kids goal. I wanted to do NYC to Colorado springs in 48 hours.
Then I discovered that a 1200cc sportbike does it out of the box, so I'm over it
Oh and my friend did a sustained 120-130 in his RX7 through Missouri.
 i do 130 on a regular basis... lol
my '86 accord lxi hummed out 130 for an hourish through the nm desert once (road from el paso to carlsbad, for those that have driven it) - wtf engine was that? i think i want to swap that thing into my rex
edit: the stock car / engine had 240,000+ miles on it at that point, too.
a18 or a20 probably...
mirage is limited to 115 but stable as fuck at that speed.
new england rally ftw. chasing down supras and m3s in a fake evo
I used to cruise in the A4 at 130, but that car was stable at 130 mph, I'd only do it on a couple highways in PA, but I wouldn't do it again, even if I had a vehicle that could handle those speeds.
When I lived in Vermont with the Supra and my first Formula (And with my NX2000) we used to sit on i-91 and wait for low flying planes to come into brattleboro, and race them.
130 in my old civic was cake, 60 to pegged speedo was nothing lol.
130 on my bike is just shifting into 3rd gear, front tire comes up at the end of 2nd, guessing it starts pulling up around 100 and stays up till I shift into 3rd, right around 130, then it comes up again at the top of 3rd.
130 in the Z happens before I even know it. but no where near as fast as my bike, however, my Z will easily milk my old CBR600 from a roll.
All of this done on private roads. just like B.
I don't like to go 130, it eats gas like you wouldn't believe. The car will do it, but physics aren't on my side if something gets kicked up from another car, or falls off a truck. I don't want to have a rock go through my chest like a bullet.
Don't even start to bitch to me about this 'public road' nonsense. I don't go over the speed limit. EVER. Although, the places where there is no speed limit, it's hard to go over it.
This makes me want to make a video of my morning commute even more. I think I'll get the camera mount made tonight. Then you guys can see what it's like driving to work on the autobahn. I think I go about 100mph pretty steadily, and I'm constantly being passed; some mornings I feel like I'm the slowest car on the road.
EDIT: I really hope I never have to move back to the US and A, I don't want to have to drive slow again.
I'm in for a video.
in for the vid also.
They are landing in a few miles, so they aren't high-tailing it or anything. But the traffic pattern puts them really low and parallel to the highway.
You can do the same in Oxford CT, but they have to hit 1,000 by the time they are off the airfield, so you can't wave up at them like you can in Vermont.
My Brother lives in Germany, he does 130+ all the time. however, for most people, the idea of doing 130 is very different then normal driving in Germany or where ever you're from. If I'm doing 130 in anything, the last thing on my mind is mpg. =)
haha. I'm the kinda guy who has an excel spreadsheet of every tank of gas he has put into the car. Today on the way home I was getting tailgated at 100mph. We're talking less than 3 feet of seperation, and that's pretty normal here.
If I had a different/more powerful car, I probably would drive a little faster, but I wouldn't sustain any different speeds. My car has a few aero mods to it, because I end up driving 110km/day just to get to work. You grow a different aprecieation towards things when you spend about an hour each way to work every day. Every penny you don't have to spend on gas is a penny more you have to spend on worthless shit that just takes up space in your house, and that is good.
Heh, just to toss this out; I get about 30mpg with the way I drive.
Now, back to my Die Hard marathon.
My play car has 6 600cc injectors, I don't care what it gets, it's fun as hell when I mash the throttle. =)
Every penny saved on gas driving my TL (daily driver) can get dumped into my Nissan to burn gas and eat up tires.
normal planes in normal traffic patterns or flying low are normally at or about 80 mph....
