The guy that lives in the room next to me uses all of the fucking bandwidth here. This prick uses something that completely shuts down everyone else's connection when he is here. The router page shows that he has port forwarding for emule and an ftp and a couple other things. I've approached him about it a few times and he denies using anything that messes our connection up. He tries to imply that its a problem with my computers or something, but the other people in the house have the same problem.

I really don't know what to do short of going in his room and trashing his fucking computer, or just finding out his mac address and blocking him from the router altogether.

Does anyone know of something else I can do?

This dude listens to loud ass rave music like 24 hours a day, not decent stuff, but annoying euro trash rave shit. one of our walls is shared and the other day, at 4:30 in the morning my wall was vibrating from the base. I haven't been able to do any schoolwork because i can hear the shit over my headphones. I ended up telling my landlord, who lives in the master bedroom, to tell him to shut the fuck up. It helped a little, but the other day he turned hi sshit up loud when i was trying to study, so i plugged my Zune into my surround sound, sub against his wall, and blasted some music back for about 30 minutes. Now his music has been low for about 4 days now. lol

I am about to seriously kick this guys ass though.

    lol.

I just went on our router and turned off his port forwarding.

Thats a screenshot i took right now, the highlighted stuff is his. He has emule on there, and I have no idea what the other 3 are for, but i just disabled all of them. The other stuff on the page is fine, azureus is mine, and it stays off most of the time now that demonoid is gone, and the other ftp is my other roommates and it doesn't affect anything.

pull his ethernet cable from the socket and snip one of the 8 wires

if you can get into the router you should be able to limit bandwidth for his ports, no?

Yea disabling the port forwarding helps a little, I do it all the time. It doesn't help it as much as this asshole leaving and not being online though. When he is not here the connection is great, but within a minute or two of him coming home, it all goes to shit.

as far as the ethernet cables, we are all on wireless.

go to the router, like walk up to it, and flip it over. what version is it?

if it's a v5 or older, those things suck ballz. it's because he's downloading with bit torrent. everytime he downloads, it's opening up so many connections to all those peers, that the router cant take it. they make them cheaply now. ebay a WRT54Gv3 if you want a good one. i had the same problem. not enough memory and the cpu in the newer ones are lacking. the v3 handles it all no problem

o yeah a WRT54Gv3 is wireless B/G and Linksys also. so it's not too too expensive or nothing. but they are rare'r and more 'prized'

running a webserver on a custom port 8888.
running an ftp server on standard port 21
running another ftp server on a custom port 2121
running an NNTP (news) server on standard port 119
allowing access to remote desktop on standard port 3389
running an Unreal Tournament server on custom port 63860 (lol, sweeeet)

the em's and the azureus's are his downloading clients. this dude's a huge network hog. why's he running so many god damn servers? remote desktop, ok, unreal, ok. depending on your internet connection contract, he's probably violating it by running webservers. u can throw that at him too.

still, i say the router is overloaded with traffic

Go to his room when he's gone, open up his computer, and start ripping shit out. Then when he gets it fixed do it again...and again...and again.

Hell just stage a burglery and put his computer stuff (along with the rest of his stuff) on ebay :D.

take all the keys out of his keyboard. then take a shit on his bed. now with the alphabet from the keyboard leave him a message, by sticking his keys in your turd. I'm sure you can come up with something clever to say by yourself.

    Surely, you are sick.

...but that would be quite difficult to spell out a message without repeating letters.

Haha, that was the best one right there. I brought it up to the guy that owns the house, who has the router in his room. He said i could put the router in my room if i wanted to. If he does that I seriously might turn it off when i know that no one else but this dumbass is here.

yblegal- all that shit on there is not his, only the highlighted stuff. azureus is mine, and like i said, is turned off most of the time, when its on its capped at a certain speed, so I dont hog the connection.
