Hey i'm new here and I have a 90 EF si. Anyways, next week I am buying a D16Y8,a 1998 with 70,000 km or a 1999 with 40,000 km. Anyways, when buying the engine, how can I tell the engine has been well maintained etc etc? I know you can check the oil and spark plugs, but is there anything beyond that? So all I need is the engine, harness, and ecu (have my stock tranny)? BTW, what ecu should I get? Any extra info on swap/engine would be highly appreciated. Thanks!!

get the ecu that comes with the engine. and if possible some kind of warranty, also think about the place that your are getting it from, is that place really reliable, or do they just want to make a few extra bucks at your expense, also ask why the engine is removed from the car, if its not, then have them start it up, if they cant start an engine thats in a car, dont buy it, most likely fooked
