I don't think the b16 was ever intended to make mass power right out of the box. You have to look at the cars they originallly came in. Civics, crxs, and a few JDM teggies. they have oomph for their size, but really need to be tuned and built to get your money's worth. The b16a geometry makes it a more balanced and reliable engine to start with, but I agree with that the b18 makes more torque hands down. I've gone through 2 b18a's in my 91 ls, and I'm sick of them. Stupid rod bearing went out on the first one, and a timing belt tensioner on the second. I hope I have better luck with the VTEC. But I'm not keeping it stock, and it's not gonna be 1.6 liters, so I guess that's a little different story than the one going on on this thread.
