Is there anything special i have to do when i am instlling the piston rings on the p30 pistons?
how does one go about gapping the rings?
and the ring lands better be clean, i ordered the pistons brand new from hybrid garage 2 weeks ago.
I wasn't sure if they were new or not
To check ring end gap you will each ring from piston 1 into cylinder 1, one at a time. Make sure that the ring is installed level by pushing the piston down on the ring (don't push the ring into the cylinder too far). Use a feeler gauge (the tool you use to measure valve lash) to measure how far apart the ring ends are. Then use a file to widen them if the need it, make sure to debur the edges after filing.
*thanks for remindin me, ineed to buy a feeler guage still.*
No problem, those are really rough instructions. Do a google search if you want more specific instructions.
