Generally I need no help or advice in this area, but this is a new one for me. Getting bored with the single scene. I don't know if I'm looking for a gf or anything, but maybe.

Her name is Kim. She's a good friend. Has been since I was in 6th grade (about 11 years old, I'm almost 24 now). I had a high school crush on her back in the day. And before that I dated her sister (like 8th grade). Recently I've been thinking about making the move to more than friends. But I don't know about it. She's literally one of my oldest friends that I can talk to about anything. Friends have really been no help. Just as an example, I asked my friend Lisa and her response was, "That could work, isn't she your only female friend you haven't slept with yet?" No help.

So what do you guys think? Should I suck it up and go for it or leave it alone?

I think that this situation puts you in an extremely vulnerable position, and has extreme potential to backfire on you. It gives her the opportunity to cheat on you/backstab you and expect you to forgive her because you've been friends forever.

Bitches are treacherous, NEVER trust one.

lay the pipe to her and stay friends.

edit: I'm being totally serious, actually.

    Word.

I'm definitely in a similar boat. This one chick I did date once, but never boned became a real good friend of mine. I definitely crossed the friend line recently with her. Shit got weird.... Its like I definitely have had chances to before, but for some reason I was like looking at my prospects(trees that you plant) and she was by far the most ravashing of them, and probably the one that knows all my or some of my skeletons. Shits weird now.

me and my girl were good friends for a long time like that before we started dating. been together 4years now no problems. i think i depends on how you go about it. im sure you guys have been out to dinner and shit before but take her out and treat it as if it were a date and see how it goes. if you just go fuck her the "friends" thing wont be the same again

I say go for it. I was in a similar situation and didn't, and i've always kinda wondered "what if".

If she knows about all the skeletons and you can talk to her about anything as you said, then what do you have to lose?

I'm assuming you have simialar interests and such, otherwise you wouldn't have been friends for so long.

    I say go for it.

I'm gonna go ahead and bookmark this thread so in a year when you post the 'I got screwed over by a girl that I thought was my friend' thread I can link back to this.

If it doesn't have a dick, I wouldn't trust it.

    lol. I agree with Wil.

Hell, if things don't work out, would that mean you've slept with all your female friends? :p
Anyways, IMO it's too much of a risk. I guess I'm that type of guy; I'd rather ask "what if" than possibly lose a friend/get screwed.

My boyfriend and I were friends for 6 or so years before we dated and we have been together for just over two years and have a ten month old together. but its a 50-50 chance. it could go either way. do you know if she has feelings or anything for you?

having not read any other responses.

    my advice is this:
she is a girl that you can talk to about anything?
talk to her about it. not all girls are out to fuck with people.
theres a alot of bitter guys on here.
talk to her, tell her what you are thinking and just approach the situation as an adult. im sure she will see that you are serious and the conversation will go one of two ways:
    1) she will say that it may be something worth trying and be game for doing it.
also, you guys have been friends long enough that if it doesnt work out, then it should be pretty easy to go back to being friends.

    or
    2) she will politely decline. once again, im sure you guys have been friends long enough that you can discuss this and she wont let it build a gap between you.

If this girl truly is a friend first and foremost, discussing this with her wouldn't change her opinion of you one way or the other, right?

It's at least worth a conversation imo.

Apparently she knows you pretty well, I'm guessing you have similar interests, she's aware of whatever skeletons are in your closet, etc, it just seems like a win win either way. And honestly, she's probably at least considered the same thing you're thinking about now, unless you look like a troll.

:werd: I wouldn't be with mine, let alone had kids with her, if she played stupid fucking head games or any other stupid shit that. Sure we piss each other off every now and then but at least I don't get the typical bullshit like you get from most women.

One time this girl dumped me out of no where. Ok, whatever. If you're gonna do that for no apparent reason, i'm not gonna be heart broken over some dumb shit. She calls me like 20 minutes later she just did that to see if I would cry and that she was just joking about the break up. Never spoke to her since lol...

Slush, I think you're just lonely but what ever you decide to do, just be prepared to never be friends again after you hit it and things don't work out...

The real question is: if things go wrong, can you go back to being just friends or never talking to her again.
