I am building an all-motor B18B LS. I took my rods and got them shotpined and resized at Hendrins Racing of Rutherfordton, NC. Well known machine shop, the best for miles.

Anyway, he calls me and says "Your pistons will not fit your rods."

I have heard again and again on this site that they will. Even from the guys with thousands of post. Ex. LSVtec I think ounce told me they would. I am not mad I just want to get the word out that they LS rods PR4 will not fit CTR pistons.
Not in 95 anyway. That is what year my LS is. I am pretty sure from 92-01 The Rods are exactly alike. Are they??? No big deal just $80 more dollars to make them fit.

Also. I was told that I would be OK w/ the compression ratio after the install. It should aprox. 11.3:1 or so. He said "Unless the motor has a knock sensor on it you can not run pump gas, 93 octane. Is this correct? Does a non-vtec B18B have a knock sensor, because I thought that just Vtecs did.

Please Let me know so I can quit worrying about my setup. :worthy:

i think i only remember lsvtec sayin the LS rods will fit first gen B16 pistons, others the rods need to be modified like you said.
from what i've "heard" you will have 12.0:1 CR with those pistons in your block (not sure how the LS heads affect CR, this would be with a B16 head). but you can use c-speeds compression calculator although i'm still uncertain about its accuracy concerning the b16a/b parts.

i'm not sure about your knock sensor question though.
    hope that helped some...

I know that the CR will be lower than B16, but thanks.

My question is will an LS run on pump gas with this CR of 11.3:1?????

Does the B18B1 have a knock sensor?????

The only ones I am absolutely sure about are B16A pistons on B18A1 rods from a 93 Integra. The rest is simply speculation. I will put this up in our FAQ. Sorry it cost you more to figure it out but thanks for the concrete answer.

    11.3:1 will be no problem
heck, i'll be running 12.3:1 on 91 pump gas in an ITR block.

    :werd:

The P72 ECU handles 11.5:1 on 91 octane fine. So I imagine you should be okay.

    I do actually :)

You need to listen to your engine carefully. I would say you need to get some way to adjust the amount of fuel fed to your engine (VAFC, EMS, Hondata, etc.). And then have it tuned on a dyno, or at least with a wideband O2 sensor.
