So my friend with the fit finally understands that unless he wants to spend a lot of money on a K swap ideally he'd be best served to get a different platform to build on.

The main difference is he intends to daily his whereas my Hondas are the weekend warriors.

His budget is about 7k (after the Fit sells)

We were thinking because money saved is money earned, his requirements are

    4 door
    Stick shift
    Fun to drive

He was looking at the GM-Saab turbo sedans with the Cobalt SS motor but an idea I cooked up was

    4 door EK (~1k$)
    JDM Type R swap (~3k$)
And then up to 3000 for aditional mods and to complete the swap.

Get a low mileage swap, slap it in there and bam. Daily "Resident Sleeper"

Again this is all good in theory, any reasons why this might not be as easy or viable as we think?

Why not just buy a 4-door GSR? probably will be cheaper and hold more value over the longer term...
better seats, nicer interior, disc brakes all around, thicker sway bars

I think because I'm the "integra guy" and he wants to use a different platform. I don't really care I love the Db's but I can understand wanting a variety also finding a clean reliable Db8 would be a nightmare imo, all the Hondas that come out of the Tampa/Orlando area for resale are disasters in a way he might have much better luck with an ek sedan. Also finding lower mileage on a car to the point it could be deemed "reliable" the majority of stock Integras i see are in the 150k-180k mile range now and Honda stuff is bullet proof but with that age and sometimes murky history you never know how well they've been maintained up to that point, whereas a low mileage swap would hopefully be a lot safer of an investment over time

EK generally describes 96-00's... Dill is just being himself... the sedans are EJ6/EJ8 if you want to get technical

We'll see how it shakes out I'll keep you guys posted. It's pretty much between a EK sedan, or the 07-08 Saab 2.0t manual sedan. And I'm trying to sell him on the idea of an IS300 because that was my "dream car" when I was shopping for a project but I think he's swedish and the idea of a car built by swedish hands is appealing.

If I remember correctly the generation he's looking at has the Cobalt SS turbo motor which I've read and heard good things about. A stage 2 kit is supposed to get it up around 300bhp

Yeah hopefully the motor that's proven to be pretty decent combined with a better chassis could be a combination for a fun DD
