jdm engine swap, obd2 doesnt read

hey i swapped in a 96 b18c from japan into my 96 honda civic hx like about a year and a half ago, but now its time for emissions and when i hook up an obd2 computer to check for codes, it doesnt communicate. I was curious if anyone had this same problem and how i could go around this and make it read...

what was this obd2 ecu out of?

it came with my motor, it is from japan, forgot what it said on it p72 or 73. scan tool doesnt recognize it

wait by swapping in this ecu will this mess up the way my motor runs at all???

no, its practically the same damn thing... just us spec so the scanner can read it properly.
